What is Clear Tab?
Every time you open a new tab, you get a fresh, distraction-free space — no cluttered shortcuts, no intrusive news feeds, no noise.
Clear Tab is a Chrome extension that replaces the default new tab page with a beautifully minimal dashboard. It's designed around one idea: your browser should help you focus, not pull you in every direction.
Whether you're starting your workday, taking a quick break, or just need to search something — Clear Tab gives you exactly what you need, nothing more.
A widget system built around you
Clear Tab comes with a growing library of widgets. You pick the ones you want, place them on your new tab, and ignore the rest.
There's no fixed layout, no mandatory content. Open the settings panel, toggle a widget on or off, and your new tab updates instantly. If something stops being useful, hide it. If you want to try something new, turn it on. Everything is reversible, everything is yours to control.
Widgets aren't locked to a grid either — you can drag any of them to any position on the page, corner, center, edge, wherever makes sense for how you work. Arrange them once, and they stay exactly where you put them. And if you ever want to focus on just one thing without distraction, every widget has its own full-page view — open it, use it on its own, and close it when you're done.
Widgets are designed to stay out of the way — small, quiet, and purposeful. They add information when you need it, and disappear when you don't.

Core Highlights
Truly minimal — No ads, no news, no distractions baked in. Just a calm, clean space every time you open a tab.
Completely private — All your settings and preferences are stored locally on your device. Nothing is sent to any server. No tracking, no analytics, ever.
Deeply customizable — From background images to widget layout, you control exactly how your new tab looks and feels.
Growing widget library — New widgets are added over time, and the community can contribute too.
Contribute Your Own Widget
Clear Tab is open source, and we welcome community contributions — especially new widgets.
If you have an idea for a widget that would make your daily browsing better, you can build it and submit a Pull Request on GitHub. It could end up in everyone's new tab.
Whether it's a to-do list, a daily quote, a countdown timer, a habit tracker, or something entirely new — if it's useful and fits the minimal aesthetic, we'd love to include it.
